Description

Yatsufusa originates from Japan and gets 5-8 cm chili peppers in abundance. They grow upright in clusters of 5 to 6 peppers. It is a popular Japanese chili pepper, reminiscent of Cayenne in terms of spiciness and flavour. They are harvested in both the green (mild heat) and red stage (hot). Combine the fresh green and dried red peppers for the best flavour in dishes. This chili pepper dries easily. Harvest the green fruits directly from the plant. To dry red ripe peppers, cut the branches, remove the leaves and hang until fruit is dry. In Japan the dried chilies are often ground into flakes or chili powder to use in shichimi togarashi, a Japanese spice mixture containing seven ingredients. Also great in stir-fries, curries and sauces. How about hot sushi?
