Description
Jalapeno is one of the most famous chili peppers in the world. Most Jalapeno's are mild, but there are much hotter varieties. This chili is named after the Mexican city of Jalapa. In Mexico, the Jalapeno's are named Cuaresmenos. The thick fruitwall is difficult to dry so when ripe they are often dried and smoked over hardwood. This product is called chipotle. The Jalapeno has a unique flavour. Commercially grown Jalapeno's are often canned or pickled. Jalapeno's can be used fresh in salsas or cut into rings for nachos and are also delicious in soups, stews and pizza. They are often stuffed with meat or cheese. Most Jalapeno's are eaten in the crunchy and green state and will be a little sweeter when they are red.
