Description
This is the original Coeur de Boeuf. It has the shape and size of an oxheart, after which it was named (French). In the UK Coeur de Boeuf tomatoes are often called Oxheart tomatoes. There’s Oxheart Pink for example, or a pink Coeur de Boeuf as you may say. It’s a meaty tomato, perfect for slicing.
There’s some confusion about Coeur de Boeuf tomatoes, as the Coeur de Boeuf in most supermarkets doesn’t look like an oxheart, but more like a puffy and heavily wrinkled pear. This is not the original Coeur de Boeuf, but a Liguria (Albenga type). Often called a Coeur d'Albenga. They are more hollow inside and contain more seeds, but they are much more productive. Both tomatoes have an excellent sweet flavour and are have a soft texture.
