Description
Ancho Grande is larger than the Ancho. The chili peppers are about 10 cm long and 6 cm in diameter. In the immature stage, the dark green peppers are called Poblano. When they mature to red they retain the name Ancho, but when the pepper matures to dark brown it’s called Mulato. The plant is about 60 - 90 cm in height. This is one of the most popular chilies in Mexico. In Mexico they use the Poblano for chile rellenos (stuffed and fried chili peppers). The Ancho is widely used in mole sauces.

Large Peppers. They thrive in hot summer Spain...
Bought 10 seeds, 10 seeds germinated into 10 healthy plants. Topped the second and third growths of leaves with each plant providing 20+ peppers. Perfect size for stuffing with your choice of ingredients and finally able to make rajas the way I discovered the dish in Mexico 30 years ago.
